PEF 2005-06 Update
June, 2006
Since our last report in 2004, the following grants were awarded:
(1) Partial support for local young people to travel to Caracas, Venezuela, for the World Festival of Youth and Students
(2) Contribution to Kevin Kresse for News From Below magazine & website
(3) Support to enable the American Friends Service Committee's (AFSC) Eyes Wide Open "Boots" project to come to Buffalo (Niagara Square; boots of National Guard troops killed in Iraq)
(4) Support for the Bethlehem Alliance work in providing Internet2 resources & access for medical and educational institutions in Palestine & Gaza
(5) Help in purchasing digital equipment for a media forum on peace, justice, arts, and activism (see/hear, Roxanne's "Radio Rox" radio show on WHLD-AM 1270 program) including publicity for PEF on the program.
(6) Assistance to Alex Mead for his AmProSoft project, including his second book & computer assistance.
(7) Travel & equipment costs for Indigenous Women's Initiatives (IWI) for their Ji gon sa seh Peace Initiative to record Tom Porter telling the Great Law of Peace at Kanatsioharke (Fonda, NY).
(8) WNY Peace Center for a facilitator for a Board retreat
(9) Buffalo Coalition for Progressive Media to enable Jimmy Massey to speak in this area.
(10) WNY Peace Center for travel money for Linda Diebel (LA dinner speaker)
In addition, major projects were supported through our designated donor programs-Women in Black and the Interfaith Peace Network:
(1) Women in Black funds were used to make a new banner and more signs for the silent vigil on Saturdays and to purchase peace dove pins/pendants from the Israeli/Palestinian women who make & distribute them.
(2) The Interfaith Peace Network contributed to Sr. Karen Klimczak's project to help women/mothers from the PEACE & Stop the Violence Coalition to attend a gathering in Washington, D.C.; then we contributed to production & distribution of thousands of "Nonviolence begins with me" and "I leave peace prints" signs in honor of Sr. Karen's work.
